General Program Information
• What services does Destiny Recovery and Wellness Centre offer?
We offer culturally grounded addiction recovery services including withdrawal management (detox), group and individual therapy, traditional healing, life skills programming, relapse prevention, and aftercare planning, as well as therapy for families. Click here for more info.
• Who is eligible to attend Destiny?
We welcome all adults from all cultures and backgrounds who identify as a woman, or gender diverse who are seeking recovery. We hope to open a men's recovery centre in the next year to serve everyone. Click here for intake forms.
• Do I need a referral to get admitted?
No referral is necessary. Self-referrals and community referrals are both welcome. Contact our intake team to begin. Click here for intake forms.
• What does a typical day look like at the centre?
Each day includes group therapy, psychoeducational sessions, mental health daily check-ins/sessions, cultural or land-based activities, mealtimes, wellness sessions, AA/NA meetings and time for rest, reflection and exercise. Click here to see what your stay will look like.
• How long is the recovery program?
30, 45, 60, 90 and 120 days based on member needs and funding. There is an on-site extended care program for eligible individuals. The time frame is up to 1 year in length. Click here for intake forms.
• Do you offer culturally specific programming for Indigenous peoples?
Yes. We offer culturally specific programming for Indigenous peoples, including elder support, traditional medicines, sweat lodge, sharing circles, land-based healing, and cultural teachings. We also respect and accommodate all religious and spiritual practices, offering space and support for individuals from all faiths and backgrounds to connect with their own traditions as part of their healing journey. Intake & Admission
• How do I apply or refer someone to the program?
You can apply by submitting an application here online or print it out here. Community service providers can also refer individuals directly. Click here for intake forms.
• What is the intake process like?
Our intake team will walk you through a pre-assessment, verify funding or coverage, and coordinate arrival for admission. Click here for intake forms.
• Do you accept individuals from outside of Manitoba?
Yes. We accept relatives from across Canada, provided funding or travel arrangements are confirmed. Click here for intake forms.
• What should I bring with me when I come to the centre?
Bring comfortable clothing, hygiene items, ID, medications, and any sacred items you use in ceremony. A full checklist is provided at intake.
• Can I bring my phone or other personal items?
Phones are stored securely upon arrival and limited access is provided at specific times. Personal items may be brought but are subject to approval.
Cost & Coverage
• Is there a cost to attend Destiny Recovery and Wellness Centre?
DRAWC is a for-profit social enterprise; however, we are deeply committed to making care accessible. We work closely with funding sources and other community supports to minimize or eliminate costs for individuals whenever possible. • Can I get help accessing funding if I’m not sure how?

Programming & Support
• What kinds of therapy or healing modalities do you use?
We combine Western therapeutic approaches with Indigenous land-based healing, trauma-informed care, and cultural wellness practices. We also honor and accommodate a wide range of spiritual and religious traditions, creating space for individuals to integrate their own faith, beliefs, or cultural practices into their healing journey. • Do you offer one-on-one counselling?
Yes. Each relative has access to individual counselling with a licensed therapist and cultural support staff. Click here to learn more.
• Are traditional healing practices available?
Yes. We offer access to Elders, medicines, sweats, drum circles, moon ceremonies, and other traditional supports. Click here to learn more.
• Is there a family or support person program?
Yes. We encourage family involvement through education, visitation, and cultural connection programming.
Do you have trained mental health professionals on staff?
Yes. Our team includes a licensed psychologist, psychiatrist, registered nurses (RNs), psychiatric nurses, and experienced recovery specialists. Together, they provide comprehensive, trauma-informed care to support each individual’s mental health and wellness journey. Click here to see our staff.
• Can I attend Destiny if I’ve already been to treatment before?

• Do you offer aftercare or post-treatment support?
Yes. We provide aftercare planning, referrals, check-ins, and virtual or in-person support circles. Click here to learn more.
Living at the Centre
• Is Destiny a live-in (residential) program?
Yes. Our program is residential and includes 24/7 care, lodging, meals, and therapeutic supports. Click here to see what your stay will look like.
• What are the accommodations like?

• What is your policy on medication?
Prescribed medications are allowed and managed by our medical team. All medications must be declared during intake. We prefer that you bring your medications with you upon intake.
Safety, Culture & Accessibility
• Is Destiny Recovery a safe space for Two-Spirit and 2SLGBTQIA+ people?
Yes. We are committed to cultural humility, gender-affirming care, and trauma-informed practices.
• How do you ensure cultural safety for Indigenous relatives?
Our centre is Indigenous-led, with Elders on staff, cultural advisors, traditional healing, and policies guided by community values. Click here to see our values.
• Do you offer language support for Indigenous languages or translation services?
Where possible, we support Indigenous language access through Elders, staff, and community interpreters. Additionally, we are committed to supporting language and translation needs for all cultures and communities to ensure everyone feels understood and respected throughout their care.
Visitors & Communication
• Can family or friends visit while I’m in the program?
Yes, family visits are critical to healing and recovery. Visitation is scheduled weekly and follows guidelines to maintain safety and wellness for all relatives.
• Can I communicate with my children or loved ones during treatment?
Yes. We encourage healthy connection and offer scheduled communication time with loved ones.
